Vroom: Milestone two

Interactive Prototype

Follow this link to my Invision prototype. It shows the basic structure of my three page horizontal navigation, as well as what the user can do in each view. And below is a quick click through video showing the process!

Logic & Algorithms

My app’s functionality was shown in the prototype and in the click through, but here is a bit more look into the backside of it.

My main navigation structure will be a tab bar along the bottom to allow the user switch between specs, choice-making, and news. The specs page will be a collection view that allows the user to tap a truck’s thumbnail to see a detail page. Each detail page will have an unwind segue back to the specs collection view.

I will have a property list with all of the monster truck data that I can access in the specs page, and when user’s are choosing trucks to represent each choice contender. In order to do this I will also have a data controller for my truck data.

Asset Design

  • Color palette
    • I asked a few people what colors they think of when they think of monster trucks, and I got a wide variety of simple color combinations but all of them were bright. So I decided to go with a classic blue and yellow, with black and white to also keep it simple.

  • App logo
    • Here is my current design for the app logo! I wanted to keep it simple but more visually interesting than the green one I had in milestone one.

  • Thumbnails for each truck
    • I made little thumbnails for each truck, to be displayed on the Specs collection view as well as on each truck’s detail page. Here is a screenshot of each of the images next to each other. (All of the images are from the monster truck wiki site).
