Introduction

Who am I?

My name is Elsa Roeber, and I am pursuing a B.S. in Technology Arts & Media, with a minor in Leadership Studies, and I’m currently applying for the Teaching Licensure program. Outside of school I enjoy improv comedy, skiing, rock climbing, and painting. I’ve lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Colorado, and I have a big sister. Eventually I hope to teach either math or computer science at the high school level!

Day 1 of Class: Superpower Activity

On the first day of class, we were asked the questions: What is your superpower? How does it manifest itself? Where do you want to go with it? In place of boring introductions, we were given about 20 minutes to create a physical object to represent our superpower and then presented them to the class.

My superpower is optimism, particularly in the form of patience and listening. I use those skills to work through challenges, so for the superpower activity I made an eraser out of foam. I also really enjoy diffusing tension with comedy, which ties into the theme of erasing negativity as well.

Why am I taking this class? What do I want to get out of it?

I originally enrolled in this class because I enjoyed my physical computing class I took last fall, and wanted to learn about more ways to apply those skills. However I’m hoping I can be exposed to a whole different world of experience design, immersive and intentional installations, and learning how to account for accessibility in my projects.
