Badass: Milestone 4

This milestone is all about reflecting on my process both from the creative side as well as from the tactical side for this project.

What went well?

  • I really liked my concept design and enjoyed making a website about a topic I care about, which was a nice motivation.
  •  Also,  I got to play around with RitaJS, a library I enjoyed because it is tangential to p5.js which I adore 🙂

What didn’t go so well?

  • I don’t feel super comfortable implementing libraries and APIs. So I went through a few iterations of design because I was struggling to understand library documentation which was frustrating to me. Valuable design practice, but not
  •  While I like designing projects with only two colors, I am starting to realize there is a time and a place for it. I’ve made some cool stuff with duo-chromatic designs, but by the end of the project I didn’t love my visual design which was unfortunate. I think that is another good reason to get more prototype feedback for myself.

What would you do differently next time?

  • Spend more time exploring any APIs and libraries I want to use, just so I can get a better idea of the potential of the tools I’m using before I implement them in my final project.
  •  Spend more time on prototypes and observe my friends navigating my website, just so I can troubleshoot things that don’t make sense to others in my UI/UX design.
